English language Program (26 - 50 weeks) at Griffith University

This course offers foundational knowledge about translation and develops skills in translating from and into English and one of eight languages. This course provides you with foundational knowledge about translation theory and practice, and will develop your skills in translating from and into English and your chosen language: Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean or Spanish. With lecturers being both academics and professional translators, their teaching is enriched with a wealth of theoretical and practical experience.

Through the Graduate Certificate in Translating and Interpreting, you will learn advanced concepts of translating and interpreting to help communications across cultures and languages. You'll build the skills to be able to navigate complex issues and situations, and to effectively communicate from one language to another.You'll also develop the ability to investigate and analyse a range of approaches to translating and interpreting in professional practice.

Each five-week General English teaching module is taught through interesting topics, including about Australia and its society. You will also develop your ability to communicate clearly in English along with a variety of useful language skills including: reading and understanding different types of English texts writing clearly and accurately taking part with ease in conversations and discussions listening to and understanding different varieties of spoken English speaking clearly and fluently with easily understood pronunciation using grammar and vocabulary to convey meaning well
