History of Arden University

• The predecessor to Arden University, Resource Development International (RDI), was founded in 1990 by Coventry-based businessman John Holden. 
• In the beginning, RDI offered remote learning courses to business and industrial clients. It also launched a number of subsidiaries in the US, Europe, Africa, and the Far East. 
• By 2010, it had shut down the majority of its overseas divisions and added distance learning programs that were approved by multiple UK universities. "Learning without Boundaries" was its motto. 
• After selling RDI and its surviving companies to the US-based Capella Education in 2011, Holden moved on to create an online business school with its headquarters located in Coventry.
