Academic English and Study Skills Bridging Course at The University of Western Australia (UWA)

English for Academic Purposes will develop your English language skills and prepare you for university entry. This course is designed to help you adjust to university in Australia and equip you with the English proficiency and academic skills necessary to undertake a higher education degree.

We cover topics such as research skills, paraphrasing and summarising, referencing and academic integrity. There is continued focus on improving your skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking as well as language development work. The Elementary English program focuses on the development of basic communication skills for educational and social needs.

The Advanced English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program develops all language skills with an emphasis on skills relevant to tertiary study. Essay and report writing, note-taking, preparation for tutorials, strategies for listening to and understanding lectures, undertaking research, discussion and oral presentations are included.
