The University of Wollongong is a leading Australian institution known for its expertise in research and teaching. It is ranked 162 in the QS World Rankings 2023 and 185th in THE World Rankings 2022 list. The New South Wales University of Technology set up a division in 1951 at Wollongong. It became the Wollongong College of the university after that. 

The institution officially became the University of Wollongong in 1975. It merged with the Wollongong Institute of Higher Education in 1982. The institution is also AASCB accredited while earning other accreditations, including CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand, Institute of Engineers Australia, Financial Planning Association, Australian Psychological Society, and many more.
