GRE Exam Fee: Cancellation Charges

The cancellation fee for the GRE exam in India is half of the original exam fee provided that the candidate applies for cancellation no later than four days prior to the test date. The official GRE documents should be scrutinized for information on the terms and conditions and refund policies.

How to register for the GRE?

There are two ways to register for the GRE, either through the ETS website or by phone. Registering through ETS involves the following steps ; 

  1. Visit ETS website
  2. Create your ETS account 
  3. On the GRE home page, select Register/Find Test Centers.
  4. Verify your email address, then continue.
  5. Book your test appointment by confirming your time zone or selecting a new one.
  6. Choose the two months you would like to take the test, and select an available test date from the calendar.
  7. Select an available time slot and tap on "Register for this test."
  8. Pay the test fees

Another way to register for the GRE is by contacting your country's Regional Registration Center (RRC).  In India, the name of the Regional Registration Center is Prometric and is located in Gurgaon, Haryana. 

How can I cancel my registration for the GRE?

You can cancel your GRE registration online via your ETS account or by contacting Prometric, the Regional Registration Center (RRC) of India. If you choose to cancel via phone, you must provide your appointment confirmation number to the RRC.

What are the documents required for the GRE?

As per the new ETS regulations, candidates registering for the GRE must possess a valid passport with name, photograph, signature, and original Aadhar Card. Also, they are supposed to undergo a mandatory ID verification process at the test center that may include photo identification and biometric voice, fingerprinting, videotaping, and signature comparison.

How to pay fees for the GRE in India?

Students registering for the GRE can pay the registration fees using various modes of payment such as credit or debit card, PayPal, money order, or a personal check payable to ETS-GRE.

Is GRE retake free?

No, the GRE retake is not free. However, students can opt for a GRE fee reduction voucher by filling out the GRE Fee Reduction Request Form and submitting it to the ETS. Candidates may use a GRE Fee Reduction Voucher for both General and Subject Tests. With the help of this voucher, they get a 50% reduction in the original fee amount.

Should I pay for the GRE whenever I reappear for it?

Yes, you must pay the GRE fee as many times as you reappear for the exam. However, you can apply for a GRE fee reduction voucher that ETS offers for the students. You must complete the GRE Fee Reduction Request Form and submit it to the ETS to get the voucher.

Which is better, the GRE or the GATE?
