The Master of Music course will equip you to impact your professional environment with the development of high level creative, technical and academic skills and diverse approaches to music performance and composition. The course is offered with two strands of potential specialisation:
Performance: Students work on perfecting performances of increasing levels of challenge to industry sta
dards. By honing their expressive, technical and academic skills, performers work one on one with a professional teacher to prepare a series of concerts including high level solo and ensemble repertoire of their choosing. This pathway includes eight units: a series of four performance units, two related research units, and two electives which expand your creative potential and professional development.
Contemporary Composition: Students select four of six options for their major study in composition, allowing students to concentrate on both traditional and commercial aspects needed in the contemporary music industries including production, arranging, sound art, animation, advertising, radio, television and film writing. This pathway includes eight units of study: a series of three to five composition units in areas of personal interest, two related research units, and one or two electives which expand your creative potential and professional development.
