 In the most recent U.S. News & World Report college survey, St John’s University ranking in the USA rises significantly. The University rose to an overall rating of 163rd among participating institutions, helped by a notable improvement in the ranking of its undergraduate business programs. On September 18, the group revealed their 2024 rankings, which were generated using statistical data that was received in the summer of 2023. St John’s university ranking in the world rose 16 spots since the 2020 rankings and two spots from the previous year in the overall rankings.

St. John's was also named a high performer in social mobility by U.S. News & World Report, which measures how well universities accept and graduate low-income students and help them realize the American Dream. St. John's was placed sixth overall among New York schools, first among Catholic colleges in the state, and 42nd among national universities in terms of social mobility. According to the organization's ranking of the top universities for both active-duty military personnel and veterans, St John’s  University ranking was 113th in the country.
