More About University of the Incarnate Word

Accreditation, Number of Students and Faculties

In 1897, the congregation acquired the land for the school from George W. Brackenridge's estate, and in 1900, the school—then known as the Academy of the Incarnate Word—was established on a 230-acre parcel near Brackenridge Park, at the headwaters of the San Antonio River. The school became affiliated with the Catholic University of America in Washington in 1912 after changing its name to College and Academy of the Incarnate Word in 1909. In 1922, the current structures were put to use.

The University of the Incarnate Word is authorised to grant associate, baccalaureate, master's, doctoral, and professional degrees by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

University Campus, Facilities, Labs and Courses

The major campuses of the private, catholic University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) are located in San Antonio and Alamo Heights, Texas. The main campus of the institution, which is spread across 154 acres, was established in 1881 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word (0.6 km2).

Admission Eligibility Criteria

University of the Incarnate Word requires you to have a GPA of 3.5 and to rank in the middle of your high school class. A mixture of A and B grades are required, with very few Cs. You can make up for a low GPA by enrolling in challenging courses like AP or IB classes.

There are a large number of documents required to be provided by the students at the time of getting an admission in this university. Some of these documents include:
