One USP, Ranking, History

In order to prepare teachers, Buffalo State College was established in 1871 as the Buffalo Normal School. It offers 64 graduate degrees, 11 post-baccalaureate teacher certifications, and 79 UG majors with 11 honors. Additionally, US NEWS ranks them as the #34 Top Performer in terms of social mobility as well as #40 in Top Public schools in the US.

Accreditation, Number of Students and Faculties

The student population strength is over 10000 as of 2022 with over 2500 faculty members. The Board of Regents, University of the State of New York, also grants Buffalo State accreditation. Additionally, the programmes at Buffalo State have been determined to meet the standards set out by the following professional associations: Accreditation Council for Nutrition and Dietetics Education (ACEND). Also holds accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Higher Education.

University Campus, Facilities, Labs and Courses

In the center of Buffalo's Cultural Corridor, on 125 acres, Facilities Operations is responsible for maintaining 45 buildings. The College's top objective is to provide accessibility for people with mobility issues as well as clear roadway access for emergency vehicles including fire trucks and ambulances. The 125-acre SUNY campus offers an open environment throughout all of its amenities. The university has multiple science labs in its Science and Mathematics complex which have all the necessary equipment for a sought-after learning approach honed by the University.

Streams, Number of Courses and Other Offerings

UG Majors and minors along with a variety of graduate degrees can be done. The notable courses are in Arts, Anthropology, Economics, African Studies, Computer science, Physics and political science. 140 undergraduate and 60 graduate programmes in the arts, sciences, education, and professions are available at Buffalo State. Institute for Chinese Studies Creative Studies, Forensic Science, Biology, and Applied Economics has featured graduate programmes as well; and is immensely popular.

Acceptance Rate at SUNY Buffalo State College (UB)

According to US NEWS, the average acceptance rate of the University is between 70-82%. Making it a less selective college compared to others in the region. Among those admitted to the college An ACT score of 25 to 31 or an SAT score between 1180 and 1360 is required for admission to UB for half of the candidates and a similar score is recommended to get seamless admission into the college.

Undergraduate eligibility criteria

  • UG candidates need a High school degree with passing grades that meet the university requirement.
  • For international students, providing English Proficiency test scores are mandatory.
  • The basic Test scores are to be met for seamless admittance and the minimum grates are mentioned below.

Postgraduate eligibility criteria

  • PG aspirants need to have a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution to be eligible for a masters.
  • Doctorate programs may require Work experience in certain courses.
  • English proficiency test scores and meeting the basic test scores mentioned below are mandatory.

  •  Submission of SAT or ACT test scores is optional.
  • GPG: minimum of 3.3 in a 4 scale
  • SAT: 1090 or higher
  • IELTS: minimum band score of 5.5
  • TOEFL: 61 iBT (Internet-based test) or higher
  • PTE Academic score of 44 or higher
  • Duolingo English Test score of 90 or higher

Other documents required

  • Transcripts of all previous academic endeavors as mandated by the selected course.
  • Valid Passport copy
  • Financial documents proving financial soundness for the course.
  • Appropriate standardized test scores (GRE, GMAT, LSAT, etc.)
  • Final High School or GED/TASC transcripts
