describe a film that made you laugh

‘Describe a film that made you laugh’ IELTS cue card need not necessarily be speaking like a movie review. It should incorporate your personal and authentic experience of watching a movie that you actually enjoyed. While talking about your personal experience, take note of the word count as well.

Let us now at some samples on the topic:

Describe a film that made you laugh: Sample 1

Timeless jokes trigger a smile and sometimes a chuckle too. A ’90s movie called 'Dumb and the Dumber' had this effect on me. The story of two quick-witted men and how they reach ‘Aspen’ is rife with the comedy of errors. These errors are crafted judiciously into funny events that made me laugh hard.

The two men, one driver, Llyod (Jim Carrey), and his best friend, Harry (Jeff Daniels), set out to return a bag full of money to its owner (Mary), who left it at the airport. The entire movie revolves around hilarious events that ensued after the bag was dropped. Although the bag was left intentionally and was supposed to be taken by the right set of people at the airport, little did the lady know that she would get it back!

Casting Jim Carrey in the movie indicates a fun element to its peak. Besides the cast, the entire series of misunderstandings and madness had pulled the bar up for other nineties movies. The scene where Harry wanted to use the washroom and, in that progression, was stopped by the cops for over-speeding shows how Harry used beer cans to relieve his pressure. This, although unreal, is a fun event. With Llyod adding to the humor each time victimizing Harry, he added laxatives to Harry's drinks just before he was going for a date is yet another mindless and hilarious scene.

Such laughs that are not at the cost of someone's happiness are definitely something I enjoy. I enjoy every bit of it, thinking that a movie is a movie. The entire journey in the car and the onset of these events reflect stupidity at its best, making the likes of me want to watch it again.

Describe a film that made you laugh: Sample 2

As a millennial, I believe I have seen better movies when I was a child than now. I can't forget a Sunday afternoon, when my family went for a siesta, I looked for an opportunity to watch 'Star Movies'. It was one of the premier channels that introduced me to the movies produced in Hollywood. Charmed with the inspiration taken from real-life, my frequency of watching the movies exponentially grew as I reached middle grade.

I still remember the movie 'Freaky Friday'. I had laughed throughout after the soul switching of the mother-daughter duo into each other's bodies. The magical element of the fortune cookie was responsible for this switch. Even though the movie portrayed serious understanding issues between the mother (played by Curtis Lee) and the daughter (played by Lindsay Lohan), it was showcased in the funniest way possible.

Lindsay Lohan became my favorite tween. Secretly, I began envisioning how my life would be if I studied in the United States. I was influenced by the radical cultural difference and the freedom given to a school girl. Beyond this, I can't forget the interview scene when the daughter was interviewed in place of her mum after the switch. The mother's soul being in her daughter's body could not fathom the questions with the same intent and 'coolness' as the daughter. The entry of the mother here and taking charge is interesting. The comic timing was par excellence.

I completely enjoyed how Curtis Lee acted so naturally when she finds out about the switch. From how she looked at the clothes to how she behaved, seeing an adult behaving like a tween was uproarious. She appeared to be more Gen X than the actual ones.

The chaos and mayhem caused due to the switch amuse me even now.
