What is CITU? The full form of CITU is the Centre of Indian Trade Unions

CITU was established in 1970 and is connected to the Marxist Communist Party of India. 

One of the biggest trade union groups in India, CITU represents laborers in many different sectors, such as manufacturing, transportation, construction, and agriculture. 

The group has been crucial in the Indian labor movement and actively promotes the interests and rights of workers. In addition to promoting the growth and advancement of the Indian economy in a manner that benefits every member of society, CITU seeks to enhance working conditions, pay, and benefits for workers. 

Through discussions with businesses and the government, among other channels, the group seeks to advance the interests and rights of workers.

Objectives and Functions of CITU

Functions-

  • Through collective negotiations and other kinds of action, CITU aims to mobilize and organize workers to preserve and promote their rights and interests.
  • In order to advance the interests and rights of employed people and to solve problems like joblessness, price hikes, and the degradation of workers' rights, CITU seeks to influence legislation and public policy.
  •  In addition to offering legal help, education and training, and support for health and safety, CITU offers assistance and support to workers in a variety of ways.
  • In order to support the rights and interests of working people and to develop the global labor movement, CITU seeks to forge international solidarity with trade unions and other forward-thinking organizations worldwide.
  • CITU strives to advance the rights and interests of underprivileged communities, farmers, agricultural laborers, and other oppressed groups.

  • Defend and advance the interests and rights of Indian workers
  • Boost workers' pay, benefits, and working conditions
  • Encourage the expansion and advancement of the Indian economy for the good of all societal members.
  • Encourage the adoption of laws and practices that uphold the rights and needs of employees.
