English Requirements:
Prior to starting their studies, international applicants at UNBC must meet their English language proficiency criteria, which are provided below:
- A minimum of 20 in each of the Reading, Listening, Writing, and Speaking sections of the internet-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam, or an equal score on another TOEFL test.
- Academic score on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) of at least 6.5 overall, with no module having a score lower than 6.0. The IELTS Indicator does not work. The IELTS paper/in-person and online/computer-based assessments are accepted.
- Overall score on the CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment) CE: 70, with no subtest scoring lower than 60.
- English Language Proficiency Index Program for Canadians, or CELPIP - CELL (Listening): 4H - CELTOP (Speaking): 4H - CELPIT-A (Academic Reading and Writing): 4H
- The ultimate MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) 85 final score, with a speaking exam score of 3.
- PTE (Pearson Test of English - Academic): minimum score of 60 in each of the reading, writing, speaking, and listening categories, and an overall score of 65.
- Program EAP 4 for BCCAT: Prior to applying for graduate admissions, students must have completed an articulated program with a final grade of 3.00 (B) or above. Duolingo requires a score of 105 (115 for the MEng degree).

Students are requested to use Education Planner BC to submit an online application for admission to UNBC. Please make sure the Office of the Registrar receives all further necessary paperwork.
Deadlines for general undergraduate programs are November 1 for the January semester and March 1 for the May and September semesters. March 1 for the September and January semesters and June 1 for the May semester are the deadlines for international students. It is not advised that international students apply for the May semester unless they are transferring from a post-secondary institution in Canada.
Graduate Admissions:
Students who already hold a degree and wish to pursue a Master's or Doctorate degree, certificate, diploma, or even just some graduate-level coursework can enroll in graduate study at UNBC. Students are required to fill out the online application and attach the necessary files to submit your application for graduate studies at UNBC.
After being accepted into a graduate program, applicants have thirty days to decide whether they want to accept or reject the admissions offer. Revocation of admission may occur if an offer is not accepted.
By the application deadline, all applicants must submit a completed application in order to be considered for admission to a graduate program.
