In order to be considered for admission to NAU, international transfer students without a post-secondary degree must have a 2.50 GPA. Undergraduate Admission Requirements

First-year applicants should be current high school students or recent graduates with less than 12 college credits.

If your core GPA is 2.75 or above (calculated using only the 14 required core courses below on a 4.0 scale), you will be considered for admission to Northern Arizona University.

If you have a 2.5 core GPA and no more than one shortfall in any two of the prerequisite courses listed below, you will be given consideration for admission to NAU. You are not acceptable if you are deficient in both lab science and math.

Postgraduate Admission Requirements

• Northern Arizona University admission requirements GPA: To be considered for regular admission, applicants must have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) for their bachelor's degree of 3.0 out of 4.0. Students with cumulative GPAs less than 3.0 may be eligible for conditional admission if the admitting academic program recommends them and provides an explanation for their admittance. 
• For your application to be evaluated, undergraduate transcripts from all undergraduate and/or graduate studies completed in the United States must be uploaded.

Visa Requirements:

In order to enter the US, international tourists and non-citizens must apply for a non-immigrant visa. To be permitted entry into the United States as an incoming NAU international student or scholar, you need to have an F-1 or J-1 visa in your passport. You must be admitted to a US university that has been approved by SEVP before submitting an application for a student or exchange visitor visa. Before you apply for a visa, you must also have your I-20 or DS-2019 from the US institution where you plan to study. 

Once you have paid your SEVIS fee and received your immigration documentation (a Form I-20 or Form DS-2019) from NAU, you can begin the visa application process. The SEVIS cost must be paid by all F-1 students and J-1 exchange guests. It should be noted that the SEVIS fee needs to be paid at least THREE WORKING DAYS prior to your visa interview.

You must arrange an interview and submit the online nonimmigrant visa application (Form DS-160) after paying the SEVIS fee. It is advised by the US Department of State that you print the confirmation page for the DS-160 form and bring it to your visa interview.

To get into Northern Arizona University, you need to follow these steps:

Undergraduate Admissions:

If you complete the 14 required core courses and your core GPA is 2.75 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), you will be considered for admission to NAU.

• four years of English in high school
• four years of math in high school
• Lab science for three years in high school
• two years of social science in high school
• one year of high school fine arts/Career and Technical Education (CTE)

Together with your application and supporting documentation, you must send a $40 non-refundable application fee when you apply.

You will only need to submit unofficial transcripts when applying to NAU. You will mail your official transcripts to Northern Arizona University Admissions, PO Box 4084, Flagstaff, AZ 86001, after you have been accepted and your offer has been accepted. 

Graduate Admissions:

You are qualified to apply for graduate admission at NAU if you have a bachelor's degree from an institution recognized by a recognized regional accrediting body.

Whether you apply to our statewide campuses, online graduate programs, or the main campus in Flagstaff, NAU entrance standards are the same.

For regular admission to the majority of NAU Office of Graduate and Professional Studies (OGPS) programs, a bachelor's degree student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0). It is anticipated that admitted candidates will have completed undergraduate coursework akin to that needed to earn a NAU baccalaureate. Different GPAs and admission requirements apply to different graduate programs.
