About the University
In 1905, the Missouri State University (MSU) was founded as a pivotal educational institution in the State. The Fourth District Normal School, a forerunner of the Missouri State University, had as its primary objective in its early years, the preparation of teachers for the southwest Missouri public school systems. It also follows a semester-based educational curriculum and has a 225-acre campus. It is one of the most esteemed public universities in Springfield, Ohio. It has one of the largest cooperative education programs in the Midwest, with 40-degree courses, and 140 undergraduate programs. The institution is ranked at >600 for 2022 in the Times Higher Education US College Rankings. It is also ranked at #527 in the 2024 QS World University Rankings. U.S. News ranks it at #342 in its National Universities list for 2024.
