The main campus of Mercer University is located in Macon, Georgia. It is a private research university. More than 9,000 students are enrolled in its 12 colleges and schools, making it the oldest private university in the state. Mercer Institute was founded in 1833 and granted university status in 1837. Mercer is a Georgia Research Alliance member.
The university offers more than 180 undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs across its 12 schools and colleges, making a wide range of courses available to overseas students. Among the well-liked fields in which the university provides a variety of programs are the arts, communication and journalism, business, engineering, technology-related education, law, and healthcare.
The university's 150-acre campus in Macon is home to its schools of business, engineering, music, and the arts and sciences. A few of the 40 buildings on campus that stand out are the 98,000 square foot huge library, the six on-campus eating options, and several professional academic facilities. First-, second-, and third-year university students must reside on campus until they turn 22. The campus features five different types of housing halls, four apartment-style residence halls with kitchens and four conventional residence halls with communal restrooms.
