Located in Southfield, Michigan, Lawrence Technological University, also known as Lawrence Tech or LTU, is a private institution. Russell E. Lawrence established it as the Lawrence Institute of Technology (LIT) in Highland Park, Michigan, in 1932. After relocating to Southfield in 1955, the university has grown to 107 acres. The Affleck House in Bloomfield Hills, which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is also located on campus. Through its five colleges, the university provides associate, undergraduate, master's, and doctorate programs.
More than 60 student groups and organizations as well as leadership possibilities are available on campus for extracurricular activities. Every organization on campus is represented by the student government. If a student petition has at least thirty signatures, the institution will usually allow new student organizations in any interest area.
