In San Francisco, California, there is a private university called Golden Gate University (GGU or Golden Gate). Through its schools of law, business, taxation, technology, accounting, psychology, and undergraduate studies, GGU, founded in 1901, focuses on training professionals. The university provides 17 graduate degree programs in addition to 8 undergraduate degree options. With its modest undergraduate programs connected to its larger graduate and professional schools, Golden Gate University is largely a post-graduate university with a focus on professional training in law and business. 

In 1901, the Golden Gate University School of Law was established. The JD, Master of Legal Studies, LLM, and JSD (Doctor of Judicial Science) degrees are all offered at the School of Law. Associate of Arts, BA, and BS degrees are available from the School of Undergraduate Studies. The MA, MS, MBA, EMBA, EMPA (Executive Master of Public Administration), and DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) are all offered by the Ageno School of Business. Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and Master of Arts in Industrial Psychology degrees are also available. The School of Accounting offers an MS in Accounting Data & Analytics (MSA), and the Braden School of Taxation offers a Master of Taxation.
