Canterbury Christ Church University Rankings 2025
Canterbury, UK
In 1962, the Church of England established Canterbury Christ Church University as a college for teacher preparation. Although it became a public institution in 2005, its affiliation with the Anglican faith has not changed. The Chancellor of the institution is Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury and head of the Church of England.
The university has three campuses: one in Canterbury, which is a part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site; and two more campuses in Tunbridge Wells and Medway, which are dispersed around the English county of Kent. Courses for educators, nurses, allied health professionals, law enforcement, and social workers continue to receive a lot of attention. But it also provides a variety of academic programs in business, science, engineering, humanities, social sciences.
As part of an investment package of £150 million, the university is undergoing updates at the moment. After the completion of a new arts building in September 2016, the Verena Holmes Building—which will house KMMS courses in science, engineering, technology, and health—opened its doors in 2020. The 19th-century prison in Canterbury was purchased by the university in 2014, and renovations are underway to add five acres to the campus.
