More About University of Munster

History of University of Munster

In the year 1631, Pope Urban VIII along with Ferdinand II established the University of Munster. However, there was a lack of funding and the university started its operations in the year 1780. University of Munster started with education in law, medicine, theology, and philosophy. 

In the year 1843, the university was renamed a royal theological academy, informally known as Munster Academy. The constitution ceremony was started by Franz Freiherr von Fürstenberg. Today, it is a full-fledged university with 44,000 students. 

About Education at University of Munster

International and domestic students are allowed to study programs in all subjects in undergraduate courses in a two-cycle double bachelor’s teaching degree program. In the education system, the two subjects are combined with the help of theoretical orientation. Through the double bachelor’s degree, students can qualify for admission to a master’s degree program. In addition to the two major subjects, students require 20 credits in the general study program.

The programs offer international students with advanced professional qualifications under several industry exposures to enroll them for a doctoral degree.

University of Munster Requirements for Examination 

There are 27 programs that are taught in the English language at The University of Munster. For admission to English language courses, you need to submit English language proficiency test scores. The test scores of IELTS and TOEFL, LCCI-Certificate English for Business are accepted. For German language courses, you need to be proficient in the German language. The level should be DSH- 2 level. For medicine and dentistry, the level is DH3. These programs do not need the German language, as they are taught in the English language. British, American and Postcolonial Studies, Comparative Public Governance, Geospatial Technologies, Human Movement in Sports and Exercise, Information Systems, Mathematics, National and Transnational Studies, Literature, Cultures, Language, Physics (MSc).

University of Munster Admissions Requirements

  • Online application fee should be submitted along with the application charge receipt.
  • Updated curriculum vitae should be updated with work experience and recent qualifications. It should also have complete details about all your experiences, extracurricular activities, and achievements.

  • Minimum two letters of recommendation are important. It should be from the past faculty, teachers, guidance or staff, or employers.

Scholarship Available at University of Munster

The Pro Talent scholarship 

The Pro Talent scholarship program is offered to international students with excellent academic records and excellence. They get a funding aid of 300 euros (INR 25,626) every month which helps them to cover up the semester fee as well as the cost of living. 

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) 

This scholarship is awarded to the students enrolling in the post-graduate and Ph.D. programs. The students need to submit an application from their home country itself. Students who have been living in Germany for more than 15 months are not eligible.
