The Scholarship Universe (SU) is the university's scholarship-matching tool for admitted students of the university. SU connects Wildcats to millions of dollars in internal and external scholarships.

Dorrance Scholarship Program

This program awards up to 60 scholarships annually to new first-year students attending Arizona’s three public universities: Arizona State University (Tempe), Northern Arizona University (Flagstaff), and University of Arizona (Tucson).

The scholarship and program value are estimated at more than $100,000. The scholarships are also renewable based on academic achievement and exemplary participation in scholarship program activities.

Arizona Flinn Scholarship

The Flinn Scholarship Program is sponsored by the Flinn Foundation, is a highly competitive, merit-based scholarship opportunity to exceptional Arizona resident undergraduate students who enroll at any of the three state universities after graduating from high school. 

Funding for Indigenous Wildcats

Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA) will help you navigate your financial aid if you are a current student or if you want to be a Wildcat.

As an Indigenous Wildcat, you may be eligible to apply for scholarships from your tribe, tribal organization, or other scholarship organizations. In addition, you may also be eligible to receive other kinds of financial aid like grants, Federal Work-Study, or student loans.

Children of Fallen Heroes (CFH) scholarship

The Children of Fallen Heroes (CFH) Scholarship allows a Pell-eligible student whose parent or guardian passed away on duty while serving as a public safety officer to receive the maximum Pell Grant for the award year in which the student qualifies.

About Placements

Foundation courses are intended to train students for a college-level curriculum by assisting them in developing the English, math, and second language abilities necessary for admittance into their degree programs.

To achieve a successful placement and orientation process, all first-year students must complete three (3) placement tests. Placement exams must be completed seven (7) days prior to your scheduled orientation day. Any required placement examinations for their academic program must be completed by transfer students.

All first-year and transfer students must take the Foundations Writing Evaluation (FWE). The FWE is a survey that can help you figure out if you need to take a first-year composition course. The questions that appear are determined by your admission status (first-year, transfer, readmit, non-degree seeking, etc.).

To complete the foundation's math requirement, you must take the Math Placement Exam. Math placement is required for Admission to the University of Arizona Math, Science, and other courses. If you will have or expect to receive math credit through A.P., I.B., CLEP, dual enrollment, or other means, you must read and follow the directions carefully to determine which math placement recommendations are appropriate for you.

To meet the foundational language requirement, you must take the Second Language Placement Exam (FLPE). You may need to take the placement exam if you have or plan to have second language credit through A.P., I.B., CLEP, dual enrollment, or other means, as many of these score reports are not provided to us until after you have attended orientation. Before being asked to take the exam, first-year and transfer students will be required to answer particular questions.

This need may be met by international students based on their TOEFL or IELTS scores, as well as endorsement from the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL). Students from around the world can learn more about this prerequisite at their Next Steps Center.
