Accreditation, Number of Students and Faculties

The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) has accredited the University of Utah since 1933. Accreditation through NWCCU implies that this university meets the established standards of the Commission of educational effectiveness and quality. AS of Fall 2021, there were 35,000+ enrolled students and 72% of these students contribute to increased diversity and 31% of the U’s domestic incoming freshmen are of colour which went straight up from 18% in 2009. 70% of freshmen at the U graduate within 6 years. The student to faculty ratio at the U is 18:1. 

University Campus, Facilities, Labs and Courses

The campus of the University of Utah is something to explore. The beautiful main campus of the U offers a welcoming home and a diverse atmosphere in the western US. The campus offers students unique opportunities and easy access to hiking in mountains. Kayaking with campus rentals is also an interesting thing about the campus. Networking at Lasonde for kick starting business ideas is also a part of the campus. The Utah Museum of Art and the theatre and music venues at the campus must be witnessed. Some of the leading Academic Departments are Accounting Aerospace Studies, Anthropology, Architecture, Ballet, Chemical Engineering, Dermatology, English, Film and Media Arts and many more. The acceptance rate of the U is 95% as of Fall 2021.

The admissions at the University of Utah is less selective with an acceptance rate of 95% as of Fall 2021. Before that, the acceptance rate of this university was fairly selective with 79.4%. 

Admission Eligibility Criteria

Freshman admission

  • The University of Utah does not have a GPA cut off for freshmen admission but the middle 50% of the admitted class has an unweighted GPA between 3.46 and 3.93. This means that 25% has a GPA above this range and 25% has a GPA below this range. 
  • ACT/SAT scores are not required for standard admission, direct admission programs and merit scholarships. ACT/SAT scores are needed for home school graduates, graduates from non-accredited US high schools and students receiving high school equivalency credentials through HiSET or GED

Graduate admission

  • Applicants seeking admission to the graduate programs must complete the four-year bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited US institution or its equivalent.

  • Official and optional test scores that are mandatory under certain circumstances.
