The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is a public institution located at Edwardsville, Illinois, USA. It is ranked at 322 (2024 National Universities) by U.S. News. The University completed 50 years in the year 2007, being founded due to the efforts of the Southwestern Illinois Council for Higher Education. 

The groundbreaking happened in 1963 while the Peck Classroom Building came up in 1965. It has several accreditations including one from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as well. The university had 13,010 student enrollments in Fall 202, with 1,992 first-year students. There were 3,043 doctoral and master’s students in this period, along with 536 international students as well. 

The institution has campuses at Alton, Edwardsville and East St. Louis. It has several research and study centers including the Center for STEM Research, Education and Outreach, Center for Predictive Analytics at SIUE, IRIS Center at SIUE, and the GeoSpatial Mapping, Applications, and Research Center or GeoMARC. 

The institution offers several degree courses in fields like humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, arts, and communications. It has schools for education, health and human behavior, business, engineering, and nursing. There are pharmaceutical programs available as well. 

Notable alumni include musician-songwriter-guitarist Jeff Tweedy, wrestler Big Show, and comedian-screenwriter-producer Stephnie Weir. 

The university has its own Career Development Center. This offers assistance with career counseling, planning, interviews, resumes, job searches, mentorship programs, choosing suitable majors, networking, and even mock interviews. Students can take appointments easily and find other career-related programs, resources, services, and opportunities to find internships, co-ops, and other opportunities. Employer partnerships are also available for recruiting SIUE students.
