Concordia University History

Concordia University, Canada, was officially founded in 1974 with the merger of Loyola College and Sir George Williams University. The University got the inspiration for the name 'Concordia' from Montreal's motto, Concordia Salus, which means 'well-being through harmony.'

About Education

Concordia University Admission Requirements

 Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, has minimum admission requirements. 

Canadian and international graduate students need to check minimum cumulative grade points (GPA) requirements for the opted graduate degree. However, a few programs demand a higher admission requirement.

1. Diploma and graduate certificate programs obligate applicants to have completed a Bachelor's (or equivalent) with a good score. 

2. Master's program requires students to have finished their Bachelor's (or equivalent) with high grades. Concordia University defines high standing as honors or specialization or a GPA equivalent to a B average. 

3. Applicants must complete a master's/ magistrate (or equivalent) with high standing (as mentioned above) for the doctoral programs.

The minimum requirement for Indian applicants is as follows:   

1. Engineering and Computer Science: Bachelor's degree (minimum 4year)

2. 3-year program plus 2-year Master's degree

1. Entrance Awards

Concordia University, Canada, offers modest funding packages in the name of awards, teaching, and research assistantships at the time of admission to most of the thesis-based students. If students meet the eligibility criteria for the University when they apply, Concordia automatically considers them for all entrance graduate awards. These are generated by the operating funds of Concordia University and or through the generosity of individual donors.

A few of the awards paid through the operating funds of Concordia University are:

a) Concordia University Doctoral Graduate Fellowships, valued at $14,000 (INR 10, 59,000) per year for four years.

b) Concordia International Tuition Award of Excellence, which reduces Concordia University fees. This is valued at approximately $43,211 (INR 32, 69,000).

c) Concordia Merit Scholarship, valued at $10,000 (INR 7, 56,000).
