Australia's only master's course in women's studies, Flinders' Master of Arts (Women's Studies) will help you develop the skills and knowledge to think critically on issues of gender and its intersections with sexuality, class, and racial differences. To gain perspective. To create change. To help tell the stories and ensure they are heard. Offered both in-person and online, Flinders Women's studies explores the importance of the concepts and constructs surrounding gender and society. Why so many think the way they do. How societies developed upon gender-orientated lines, and why it's more important than ever to question taken-for-granted assumptions to build a more balanced, inclusive and just future. It explores feminist politics and different types of feminism, women's empowerment, human rights, indigenous knowledge, LGBTIQ issues intersectional approaches help us understand who we are, and how we can better advocate for those whose experience is different to ours.

The Graduate Program in Maritime Archaeology at Flinders is the top named degree of its kind in Australia. You'll learn practical skills in the classroom and gain valuable, career-ready experience in the field, with field schools and training led by award-winning, internationally recognised experts in maritime and underwater archaeology. Get hands on in the lab with the latest digital technology, including 3D recording of artefacts and landscapes, marine geophsyics, conservation and diverse topics from historic shipwrecks to ancient submerged landscapes. Participate on archaeological projects interstate and overseas and obtain field experience through formal training in our field schools and practical topics. In the Masters Program, you'll graduate with theoretical and practical training with an option to become a qualified Scientific Diver enabling you to participate on many scientific and archaeological projects around the world. Careers in maritime archaeology are steadily growing, both in Australia and internationally. The Flinders program has drawn students from many countries (Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, UK, USA, Canada, South Africa, Italy and the Netherlands) and graduates now work professionally for underwater cultural heritage management agencies, museums and consultancy companies, as well as studying and teaching at universities all over the world.

The archaeology and heritage management program aims to meet the research and professional needs of graduates with an interest in Australian archaeology, archaeological field practice and cultural heritage consultancy. It aims to increase your theoretical knowledge, research skills and applied skills to help you develop the appropriate depth of understanding of issues in a number of related specialisations in archaeology and/or cultural heritage management. The program draws on both theoretical and practical material and provides you with the opportunity to apply both the principles and the practical skills developed during the course.
