Federation University, Australia has a strong tradition of education and has been delivering it for more than 150 years. While studying at the institution, students will be a part of a diverse community of 25,000 students from Australia and the world. The university offers over 150 programs across a range of subjects, with courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in addition to pathway programs with a focus on industry-oriented learning.  

USPs 

A few unique features which distinguish Federation University from others are as follows:

1. The class sizes are smaller compared to most metropolitan institutions, which means that the students receive one-on-one assistance directly from their faculty

2. Offers Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) to students from outer regional or remote areas who relocate to begin a full-time, higher-level tertiary education

3. The university has introduced an option to choose to integrate the on-campus experience into the online mode of study. Therefore, students get the chance to switch some classes from on-campus to online. 

Rankings

The Good Universities Guide placed the Federation University ranking on the first position in Australia for first-generation student enrolments, and the number one university in Victoria in seven categories: student-teacher ratio, starting salary for graduates ($62,600 average), full-time graduate employment, skills development, teaching quality, student support, and social equity. According to Edurank, the Federation University acceptance rate is 66%. 

On Times Higher Education ranking, the university bagged #101-200 position on Impact Rankings 2021, #200-250 on Young University Rankings 2022, and #601-800 on World University Rankings 2022.

The Federation University's fees differ according to the level of study, course a student is opting for, and if they are a domestic or international student.  

Required Exams 

All international students are required to prove their English proficiency through either of the agencies - IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, and Cambridge - CAE. The Federation University requirements under these English language proficiency tests are as follows:

1. Academic IELTS: Overall score of 6.0 with no band less than 6.0

2. TOEFL (iBT) minimum score of 60-78: Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18, Writing 21

3. PTE Score: Overall 50 (no band less than 50)

4. Cambridge - CAE: Overall 169 (no band less than 169) 

Admission Requirements 

Besides the English language proficiency scores, there are some Federation University requirements a student needs to fulfill to get admission to one of their courses. 

1. Undergraduate students

There is a competitive assessment for students seeking admission to undergraduate programs on the basis of Australian Year 12, or equivalent overseas school qualifications. Some programs require a student to go through some additional procedures such as audition, interview, or portfolios or might have specific subject requirements. Students with post-school qualifications such as diplomas or advanced diplomas are subject to consideration with advanced standing or credit. 

2. Postgraduate students

Though the eligibility requirements for postgraduate programs vary, the general criteria are to complete an Australian bachelor's degree, or overseas equivalent, with specified minimum grades in relevant subjects. Some programs might also require relevant work experience along with a bachelor’s degree.  

Available scholarships in University 

The Federation University, Australia offers an array of scholarships to help their students. Moreover, there are a few scholarships dedicated solely to international students. 

1. Australia Awards

It is funded by the Australian Government and administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The scholarship runs with a motive to stimulate lasting change by empowering a global network of talented individuals and developing leadership potential through high-quality education experiences in Australia and overseas.

2. 2022 Destination Australia Program (co-funded Ph.D. and Masters by Research Project)

It is funded by the Commonwealth Government with an aim to attract and support students who desire to study and live in regional communities. 

3. 2022 Federation University Australia Global Innovator Scholarship: 

International students studying undergraduate and postgraduate programs can avail 20% waiver on the annual tuition fees. 

4. 2022 Federation University Australia Global Excellence Scholarship: 

Financial support that is equivalent to 25% of the annual tuition fees of high achieving international students with a distinction average is granted under the scholarship.  

5. 2022 International Student Accommodation Support Scholarship:

Applicable for students staying in university accommodation in one of their campuses in Victoria.
