Describe A Memorable Event in Your Life - Cue Card Sample
The topic seeks an account of a memorable day in my life. While there are several red-letter days in my life to date (I consider myself fortunate enough for the same), I will choose the day I got my first offer letter. I was fresh out of college (I had completed my four-year engineering program with distinction) and was allowed to apply for placements. I was clear that I would work for a few years and save up for a good master’s program abroad. Hence, I eagerly participated in placements, managing to get through the initial rounds at two leading multinational companies.
Eventually, I got an offer letter from one of these companies. Imagine my surprise and happiness when I was placed in my home city with a decent compensation package. I got this offer letter while in college, where I had gone for the final round of placements. I was too excited to convey my news on the phone to my parents. This was the day I had pictured for a long time; I had dreamed of getting a job and then treating my parents to some of the finer things in life (that they sacrificed to bring me up). I called our local Chinese restaurant and asked them to deliver food at our address immediately.
I took a cab and reached home just in time as the food arrived. My surprised parents were very emotional when I handed them my offer letter. We all took a moment and then started dancing together. It was one of the most beautiful days in my life.

Memorable Day in My Life - IELTS Cue Card Practice Sample
One of the most memorable days in my life was when I won the inter-college cricket tournament with my teammates. Being a crunch match, the entire college had turned up, and it was held at our home ground. My parents and younger sister had also arrived to support me. We were nervous initially, even though we knew we had played well throughout the tournament. I was on a temperamental streak; out of five matches so far, I had played well in two of them, getting a couple of 30s under my belt. However, I had failed in the rest. I was determined to leave my mark on the proceedings in the prestigious inter-college final.
The opponents won the toss and opted to bat first. They made mincemeat of our bowlers from the word go, amassing a massive score of 181 in 20 overs. I had taken a catch at point but that was my only contribution in the game till then. The butterflies were jumping in my stomach when I opened the batting with my partner Naveen. However, I remembered the advice of my coach- You will see the ball like a football if you cut out everything else. These words came back to me. I was a changed batsman.
Looking back at the game, I wonder how I managed to score a quick-fire 58 runs off just 20 balls in the final, especially after having failed in the previous two games. I hit five sixes in my knock. When I got out, I had given my team a good start, one that they maintained to romp home in 19 overs. The Man of the Match award was the icing on the cake. I was a hero in college. It was a memorable day in my life.
