What is VITEEE Exam 2024

The VITEEE, short for the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination, is conducted for admissions to undergraduate engineering programs, like BTech, offered by the VIT Group. Most aspirants usually prepare for the VIT entrance exam along with other engineering tests after completing their Class-XII board examinations. 

The BTech courses at the VIT group are offered in various disciplines like Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechatronics and Automation, and so on. 

VITEEE Exam Dates 2024 

The VITEEE exam will be held tentatively between the 19th and 30th of April 2024 across designated centers throughout India and abroad. 

Eligibility Criteria for VITEEE Exam 

The eligibility criteria for the VITEEE exam are as follows: 

  • Applicants should be residents/NRIs (Non-Resident Indian nationals), PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin), or OCIs (Overseas Citizens of India). 
  • Applicants born on or after 1st July 2002 can apply for 2024 admissions. The SSC/X/High School Certificate must be produced as proof at the time of admission/counseling. 
  • Candidates applying for UG Engineering admission should have completed/will appear in 2024 for any one of the qualifying examinations, like the 10+2 conducted by the CBSE, State Board, or The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE) final examination; intermediate/two-year pre-university examination conducted by a recognized university/board; Cambridge University’s High School Certificate Examination or International Baccalaureate Diploma, General Certificate Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) level. 
  • Applicants should have scored at least 60% as the minimum aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination. 
  • For the SC/ST categories and those hailing from Jammu and Kashmir/Ladakh and the northeastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Sikkim, the required pass percentage is at least 50 in these subjects. 

Note: NRI applicants may directly apply through the NRI application form in the NRI category, and foreign applicants who have studied/are studying abroad can apply directly through the International application form. 

Exam Pattern of VITEEE 

The VITEEE exam duration is 2.5 hours (2 Hours and 30 Minutes). Candidates can only appear once for the test. The question paper is only in English, and all questions are in the MCQ (Multiple-Choice Questions) format. Every right answer gains one mark, and the wrong answer has no negative marking. 

There are 125 questions in total, divided into Maths/Biology (40 questions), Chemistry (35 questions), Physics (35 questions), English (5 questions), and Aptitude (10 questions). 

Admission Process for VITEEE Exam 

The VITEEE exam admission process involves the following major steps: 

  • Candidates must first submit the online application. The concerned authorities then verify and scrutinize these applications.
  • Successful candidates are provided with the links to generate their test slot booking. Once this is done, the candidates appear for the VITEEE. 
  • Once the results are out, the authorities will announce online counseling based on the ranks.
  • Candidates must then list the programs they want to pursue. 
  • Provisional admission letters are then rolled out based on merit. 
  • The last step involves document verification before candidates are admitted. 

VITEEE 2024 Preparation Tips 

Here are some useful preparation tips for the VITEEE entrance exam: 

  • Focus on topics like data sufficiency, data interpretation, number series, coding and decoding, syllogism, clocks, calendars, and directions. 
  • Refer to NCERT textbooks to build a strong foundation in the core concepts of each subject. You can use books like RS Agarwal and RD Sharma for mathematics and HC Verma for Physics. Find the popular books for each subject and refer to them to better prepare for the exam. 
  • Use mock tests to practice as much as possible, as they provide first-hand test experience. You can use JEE papers for practicing. You will also find other practice questions and samples online for the VITEEE. 
  • Make a list of important formulae and create short notes for swift revisions at the last minute. It is not possible to go through all the books again just a few days before your test. Hence, these notes and formulae will help you remember the key points.
