The West Bengal government launched the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship program, which awards scholarships at various levels of higher study at educational institutions located in West Bengal. 

It was initiated with the goal of helping deserving students from economically disadvantaged families in the state pursue higher education. 

The Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means (SVMCM) Scholarship Scheme was completely redesigned in 2016 to accommodate a larger number of applicants and greatly increase the scholarship amounts.

Students enrolled in standard classes XI and XII, as well as undergrad courses in science, arts, commerce, engineering, medicine, and technical and professional fields, benefit from the scheme. 

Students seeking postgraduate degrees in science, arts, commerce, technology, and management can also apply for the SVMCM Scholarship. 

Merit-cum-means criteria will be used to determine which worthy students will get these scholarships. In 2023, there were 58127 applicants in total for school education and 194630 applicants for general degree courses.

Giving financial aid to deserving state students is the primary goal of the Swami Vivekananda scholarship. With the government funding their education,

SVMCM Scholarship Scheme 2024 – Eligibility Criteria

SVMCM Scholarship Scheme 2024 – Renewal of Scholarship

Within one month of the date of admission to the next higher class as a result of promotion through first-pass success, an online application must be submitted to the relevant scholarship sanctioning authority for the renewal of the scholarship (in the case of semester mode, all semester examinations must be cleared in the first attempt). 

Subject to good academic performance (minimum 60% of points from the higher secondary level to the undergraduate level- combining both semesters- at the promotional examination) and 50% of points (combining both semesters) at the postgraduate level, renewal cases (focused solely on a specific level of study) will be approved.

Renewal requirements of the SVMCM Scholarship for general degree/postgraduate students:

  • 1st Renewal- Candidates must submit their semester 1 and semester 2 marksheets.
  • 2nd Renewal- Candidates must submit their semester 3 and semester 4 marksheets.

Renewal requirements of the SVMCM Scholarship for MBBS students:

  • 1st Renewal- Candidates must submit their 1st MBBS marksheet.
  • 2nd Renewal- Candidates must submit their 2nd MBBS marksheet.
  • 3rd Renewal- Candidates must submit their 3rd MBBS marksheet for final renewal.

SVMCM Scholarship – Documents Required

The documents that must be uploaded for the Kanyashree and Fresh applications are:

i. The Madhyamik Examination mark sheet, or a copy of it (both sides)

ii. Mark sheets from both sides of the most recent Board, Council, University, or College test

ii. A receipt for admission

iii. The family income certificate (not applicable to Kanyashree)

iv. Aadhaar ID, voter ID, ration card, or domicile certificate issued by the relevant authorities 

v. A scanned copy of the bank passbook, namely the first page with the account number and the IFSC

vi. A statement from the institution's head explaining the reason for the year gap. (This option will only show up if the candidate chooses to register with 2022 as the Year of Qualifying Exam or earlier.).

Candidates must attach the following documents for the renewal application:

i. A duplicate of the final exam mark sheet for the current study session. (Both sides, as well as both semester marksheets in the case of a semester examination system.).

ii. Admission receipt for advancement to the subsequent class level.

Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Login Process:

1. Online Registration: Applicants must first complete and submit the online form for registration. Visit the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship official website.

2. Online Application: Enter your password, captcha (security code), and the generated applicant ID to log in. These details were specified during the registration process.

3. Upload Documents: The Scanned Supporting Document Upload form will display following the successful submission of application forms.

4. Submission: To finish the application process, check the file in view mode and click Submit Application when the upload has been successful.
