How to Apply for MS in the UK

Students can apply to universities through their common portal for applications, namely the UCAS. Some universities also have dedicated portals for applying. Most institutions take applications between September and October and between January and February in the UK. 

Admission Requirements for MS in the UK 

You should carefully note the eligibility for MS in the UK for Indian students. Students may apply through the common application portal for UK universities, UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admission Services). Some institutions also take applications through their dedicated portals. The intake deadlines are usually between September and October or January to February. Application deadlines vary across universities. 

Eligibility Criteria for MS in UK

The eligibility criteria are the following: 

● 2:1 or 2:2 undergraduate course in a field linked to the program where you are applying. 2:1 is equivalent to around 75%, while 2:2 is equivalent to around 60%. 

● You will also need GMAT and GRE scores. 

● You will have to furnish proof of work experience. 

● Research proposals are also required for programs involving research. 

● You will have to appear for a personal interview if needed. 

● English language proficiency scores are also required.  

The documents required include the following: 

● Scanned transcripts copy from all your institutions. 

● SOP (Statement of Purpose). 

● English translations of transcripts not in English. 

● Personal statement. 

● Updated CV/Resume. 

● Two-three academic or professional recommendation letters. 

● Score sheets of IELTS/TOEFL. Minimum recommended scores are 6-7 for IELTS and 90-100 for TOEFL iBT. If you submit PTE score sheets, the minimum recommended score is 60. 

Deadline for University Applications in the UK

There are two intakes – between September and October or January to February. Application deadlines may vary across universities.

Important deadlines that should be considered before applying for MS in UK are:

  • Deadlines for courses such as Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine fall in mid of October.
  • It is also essential to adhere to the UCAS deadline (usually mid-June for non EU/EEA applicants) as many universities do not accept bachelor’s applications once the UCAS portal is closed. UCAS is an application processing organization for British universities.
  • In August, UCAS undertakes the application clearing process where universities open for late applicants to be considered for vacant seats.
