IIT-JEE, conducted in 12 countries last year, will now be held in 25 countries, including the US, Australia, South Africa, Singapore, China, Nepal, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE.

The examination will allow direct admissions to around 3,900 undergraduate and 1,300 postgraduate seats for NRIs, Indians, and international students.

It will enable admissions to India’s most prominent engineering institutes, namely, the National Institute of Technology, the National Institute of Information Technology, the School of Planning and Architecture, and IIIT. Approximately 15% of seats will be reserved for NRIs and international students in these institutions.

According to the Union Education Ministry, international students will be offered admission to these institutions under the Direct Admission of Student Abroad (DASA) scheme. However, IITs are excluded from DASA.

To attract large numbers of international students to the country, the Union government had awarded the status of Institute of Eminence to premium Indian universities under the Institution of Eminence scheme.

Additionally, students appearing for major competitive examinations like JEE can now take the exam in 13 languages. Under this facility, they can answer the question paper in their mother tongue.

The JEE-Main examination will be conducted in two phases this year, June and July, respectively. The first phase of the exam will begin on June 20.

The JEE Advanced Test will be conducted for those students who successfully clear the JEE Main. However, specific engineering colleges provide admission based on JEE Main score. In this case, NRIs and international students can also be admitted based on JEE Main.

As per last year’s statistics, over 14 lakh candidates appeared in the first and second papers of JEE-Advanced.
