ICAR Exam Highlights

ICAR manages the education and research initiatives under DARE (Department of Agricultural Research and Education), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The body has given the responsibility of conducting the ICAR AIEEA  (All India Entrance Examination for Admission) exam to the NTA (National Testing Agency). 

Students can enroll in undergraduate and postgraduate courses along with doctoral programs via the exam. There are 75 institutes under the ICAR-AU System where students can get admission. Let’s dive into the details of this exam.

Test for Undergraduate Programs 

Earlier, students needed to appear for the ICAR AIEEA-UG exam to enroll in Bachelor's degrees. From 2023-24 onwards, this admission will be handled by the CUET-UG (Common University Entrance Test). 

The CUET (Common University Entrance Test) handles UG exams for central universities and will now admit candidates for various ICAR UG courses, including:

  • BSC Agriculture (Hons) 
  • BSC Horticulture (Hons) 
  • BSC Forestry (Hons) 
  • BTech Agricultural Engineering
  • BSC Community Science (Hons)  

Test for Postgraduate Programs 

The ICAR AIEEA PG exam is conducted to help students enroll for postgraduate courses. There has been no change to this exam procedure, which is still organized by the NTA. The various degree programs available for students comprise:

  • MSC Agri-Business Management
  • MSC Agricultural Microbiology
  • MSC Food & Nutrition
  • MSC Food Technology
  • MSC Forestry 

Test for Doctoral Programs

The ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF exam is conducted to enroll applicants in doctoral programs. It is awarded to a limited number of students based on merit and set availability. The programs are available in subjects like agriculture, horticulture, dairy technology, forestry, fishery, and biotechnology.    

Eligibility Criteria for the ICAR AIEEA Exam 

The eligibility criteria for the candidates depend on the exam – UG, PG, or PhD. 

Undergraduate Eligibility 

Students appearing for the CUET-UG exam must have passed a 10+2 examination from a recognized board with at least 50% marks. This is applicable for the General, OBC (NCL), EWS, and UPS categories. For SC, ST, PwBD, and Third Gender categories, passing a 10+2 examination with a minimum of 40% marks is necessary. 

Moreover, they must have studied and cleared the exams with a combination of PCM, PCB, or PCMB. Lastly, applicants need to be Indian nationals.   

Postgraduate Eligibility 

The primary eligibility criteria for PG courses are passing 10+2 from a recognized national board and a four-year bachelor's degree. Candidates completing five-year programs like BVSC and AH or 5 1⁄2-year courses are also eligible for the exam.  

Candidates in the General, OBC, EWS, and UPS categories will require at least 60% marks in their UG degree. For applicants from the SC, ST, Third Gender, or PwBD categories, the minimum required mark is 50%.  

Doctoral Program Eligibility 

The ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF exam’s primary eligibility is to complete a postgraduate degree with the necessary subjects from a recognized institute. General, EWS/UPS, and OBC candidates must secure 60% marks in their PG course. For SC, ST, Third Gender, and PwBD candidates, the required mark is 50% in their PG courses. 

ICAR Exam Date

The ICAR exam date for UG courses (CUET UG) is declared to be between 15th May 2024 and 31st May 2024. The exact dates of the ICAR PG and AICE-JRF/SRF exams haven’t been announced yet.

The tests will be computer-based, and the details will be available later on the NTA's official website. The ICAR result dates have not been notified by the authorities. 

How to Apply for ICAR AIEEA

The ICAR AIEEA exam application steps are similar for UG, PG, and doctoral programs. Visit the official ICAR or CUET website and fill out the application form. Enter the required personal details. Then, upload scanned images of your signature, photograph, and thumb impression. 

The next step is to pay the specified application fee through your preferred payment gateway. Keep a copy of the confirmation pages after making the payment and submitting the form.
