Advantages of Ausbildung Courses Over Traditional Degree Programs

Here are some of the benefits that Ausbildung courses in Germany can provide over traditional courses.

Industry Experience:

Ausbildung courses in Germany are designed to provide industry exposure and ensure training under the expertise of skilled professionals. Thus, being dual vocational training courses,  these make you industry-ready with both theoretical and practical skills. On the other hand, traditional courses are more theory-based.

Attractive Stipends:

During the course, you are more likely to receive a monthly stipend of €1,086.82 in your first year of training. However, this can vary depending on the course and university. Such stipends may not always be possible in theoretical courses.

Networking Opportunities:

While undergoing training at the company, you are more likely to develop professional relationships that can pave the way for job opportunities. This is a distant possibility in traditional courses as most of your learning remains restricted to a classroom.

Exciting Benefits:

You get holidays, usually 30 leaves yearly, and five special leaves for your exams.  Moreover, you may also be eligible for company pension schemes and capital-forming benefits. These are usually not available in traditional programs.

Improved language skills:

Studying and working in Germany simultaneously provide a more culturally immersive experience. Thus, enhancing skills is required for success in the German work environment.

Ausbildung Eligibility Criteria

Usually, Germany’s  Ausbildung courses accept students in summer and winter. The specific eligibility may differ from one course to another. However, there are certain general requirements that you must comply with to apply for the courses:

  • You must have completed your higher secondary or equivalent education. The higher education certificates must be translated into German. You may also be asked to show the university entrance qualification or “Hochschulzugangsberechtigung” for some courses.
  • Since most Ausbildung courses are taught in German, you will need to show good German language proficiency, at least B1/B2 level, to gain admission to the course.
  • Exceptional CV/Portfolio showcasing recent work.
  • Some courses may ask for certificates from previous training/internships/jobs.
